Mission Statement

Welcome to the Montrose Senior Center (Golden Circle Seniors, Inc.). The center is a non-profit organization incorporated on December 9, 1986, for charitable and educational purposes. The original organization was “The Golden Age” group, which formed in 1972 when efforts began to open the first Senior Center in Montrose. The name was later changed to the Senior Citizen’s “Golden Chain Club,” and then to “Golden Circle Seniors.” The purpose and function of Golden Circle Seniors is to act as the council for the Senior Center meal site provider; to serve as a channel of communication between participating seniors, the community and the nutrition program; to notify participants of policy changes, upcoming events and activities of interest to senior citizens; to serve the interest of senior citizens, seek

representation and provide participants a voice in matters which concern them; to raise funds for special projects, equipment or furnishings for the Senior Center as needed; to encourage the participation of all those eligible and to welcome all newcomers. As a charitable organization, funds raised have also been contributed for community needs such as Senior Transportation, the Montrose Memorial Hospital

Any senior citizen who attends the Montrose Senior Center meal site or participates in Senior Center activities is welcome to become a part of Golden Circle. There are no dues. The goal of the Senior Center was and is to get older Americans out of isolation and into an atmosphere where they can enjoy a balanced meal, and participate in social and educational activities in the company of other senior citizens. Volunteers

keep the Senior Center running smoothly for the five-day-a-week senior luncheons; provide entertainment; and volunteer their expertise in teaching various crafts, classes and activities. Golden Circle Seniors is dedicated to the continuance of assisting with the original goal through the volunteer efforts of all involved. Join us to engage with a vibrant community, make new friends, and enjoy enriching experiences designed specifically for seniors.
