    Senior Planet Classes

    The Montrose Recreation District (MRD) is pleased to be a licensed partner of AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) and its Senior Planet program. Senior Planet is the flagship program of Older Adults Technology Services (OATS), a national nonprofit organization dedicated to helping older adults thrive in today's digital world. Senior Planet classes provide opportunities for older adults to learn new technology skills, connect with others, explore creative interests, stay active, and gain confidence using digital tools.

    Classes are held at the Montrose Senior Center on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The registration fee is $5 per class. Fee assistance is available through the Montrose Recreation District, and no one will be turned away due to an inability to pay.     • Session 16 – Finding Info Online – This workshop will help you to choose strong search terms, review and filter results, recognize helpful website features, and learn to search by image.     • Session 17 – Getting Started with the iPhone Health App – Mobile health apps come pre-installed on most smartphones. These apps help you to take better control of your health and fitness – which makes you a better advocate for yourself.     • Session 18 – Using Google Calendar- This workshop will discuss the benefits of using google calendar, and overview of calendar basics, how to add and edit events, and creating a shared calendar for family and friends.     • Session 19 – Exploring Senior Planet.org through AARP – With Senior Planet you can set up a free account.
