    Senior Planet Classes

    The Montrose Recreation District (MRD) is pleased to be a licensed partner of AARP and its Senior Planet program. Senior Planet is the flagship program of Older Adults Technology Services (OATS), a national nonprofit organization dedicated to helping older adults thrive in today's digital world.

    Senior Planet classes provide opportunities for older adults to learn new technology skills, connect with others, explore creative interests, stay active, and gain confidence using digital tools.

    Classes are held at the Montrose Senior Center on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The registration fee is $5 per class.

    Fee assistance is available through the Montrose Recreation District, and no one will be turned away due to an inability to pay. If you need additional financial assistance, please contact Liz Gracesun at liz@montroserec.com or call 970-252-4884.

    • Practicing with Google Docs                                                                                                                             This 2-session series will give you plenty of hands-on practice using Google Docs, a free  alternative to Microsoft Word.     • Using Google Sheets                                                                                                                                         From budgeting to event planning to keeping track of job applications, Google Sheets can help you get organized! Sheets is available for free to anyone with a Gmail account!     • Using Google Slides for Presentations                                                                                                             Slides is Google’s presentation software and it’s available for free to anyone with a Gmail account!     • Computer Essentials Course                                                                                                                                This 5-week course is designed as a beginner’s course for students who have little or no experience using the computer.  It will cover using a mouse and a keyboard, getting to know word processing programs, how to connect to the internet, exploring websites, how to perform a web search, email, and online safety;  Days:  Mondays and Wednesdays;  Date:  October 5, 7, 12, 14, 26, 28 and November 2 and 4;  Time: 9:00 am – 10:30 am;  Fee: $50  (including 10 classes; Registration Code: 50+SPF – 04;  Location:  Montrose Pavilion Senior Center
